Lafarge South Africa has the widest range of designed-for-purpose products covering every application. What sets us apart is the research and development that we invest in to ensure customers can be confident Lafarge products will be user-friendly and perform consistently.

Lafarge South Africa is the local presence of the international Lafarge Group, a world leader in building materials, with unparalleled technical strength and capacity for innovation. We continually introduce innovative, quality products and solutions to the local construction market, in line with the Group's ambition to contribute to Building better cities that are more durable, more beautiful and help sustain a healthy prosperous society for all our people.

Lafarge's user-friendly cement and concrete solutions are popular with homeowners and building contractors alike because of their reliable quality and high performance. Typical choices for house projects are:

Durabuild

Durabuild was designed for those jobs in and around the home. We focused on formulating a quality cement that would produce user-friendly mortars, plasters and concrete, with the emphasis on affordability.

Classified as a 32,5N General Purpose Cement, Durabuild is ideal for:

  • Masonry work
  • Driveways and paths
  • DIY concrete and plaster work

Buildcrete

The Buildcrete name is long-established in the local construction industry as the premium quality general purpose cement. It is also an environmentally-friendly choice: Buildcrete's formulation gives a low carbon footprint and reduced greenhouse gas emissions in its manufacture.

Reflecting Lafarge's active concern for conservation, part of the proceeds from each bag of Buildcrete sold is donated to the baby rhino orphanage in Limpopo. The orphanage is doing wonderful work caring for these victims of the poaching epidemic.

The high performance and early strength gain of Buildcrete 42,5N enables builders to standardise on its use for a wide range of applications, such as:

  • House foundations
  • Reinforced concrete suspended slabs
  • Ponds and water features (Buildcrete produces dense impermeable concrete)
  • Concrete driveways and paths (the early strength enables them to be used sooner)
  • Mortar and plaster work
  • Even suitable for brick and block making (which means the walls of your home may already contain Buildcrete)

Supaset

SupaSet is a remarkable new product that illustrates how Lafarge technology is applied to meet the needs of its customers for convenience and rapid results. A first of its kind in South Africa, SupaSet is ready-to-use, just add water. It takes only 10-15 minutes to set a pole firmly in position, compared with up to 2 days for a conventional concrete mix.

Think of all the potential uses for poles (wood or metal) around your home:

  • Decking poles
  • Carports and lapas
  • Small to medium size gateposts
  • Rotary washing lines
  • General fencing

The Lafarge Readymix concrete team has developed exciting innovative concretes that offer special solutions for better, more durable and especially more beautiful homes. Two examples are:

ArteviaTM

ArteviaTM has opened a window on a new world of decorative concrete. Offering a wide choice of colours, textures and patterns in durable, minimal maintenance concrete, ArteviaTM imparts originality to the inside and outside of homes, and the means to express the homeowner's personality.

Achieve stunning, silky smooth marble-like finishes in the home with ArteviaTM Polish. Have an attractive, uniquely textured, non-slip driveway with ArteviaTM Exposed.

HydromediaTM

Another Lafarge technical breakthrough has demonstrated that practicality can go hand in hand with beauty. HydromediaTM is an innovative porous concrete that provides rapid drainage of storm water and finds a wide variety of uses:

  • Driveways and pathways
  • Patios
  • Swimming pool surrounds
  • If your architect is designing an advanced ‘green' dwelling, the light weight of HydromediaTM makes it ideal as a key element of a concrete green roof system

HydromediaTM offers a practical solution with an attractive texture that can also be produced in a variety of decorative colours.
