On Friday 13 October, the Lafarge Education and Community Trusts recognised the efforts and contributions of learners, educators and community members in Bodibe at the Bodibe Schools Ceremony at Molekane Primary School.
The individuals were commended for their hard work in improving not only their own lives, but the lives of others in the Bodibe community.
The Lafarge Education Trust is about improving the quality of education in South Africa, and particularly in the communities where Lafarge operates. The Trust supports a wide spectrum of education interventions ranging from the provision of infrastructure, social and academic skills, bursaries and exposure to post study opportunities.
The Lafarge Community Trust’s aim is to mobilise communities to access resources and improve their quality of life.
According to Cheryl Carolus, the Chair of the Lafarge Community and Education Trusts, “Education is the most sustainable way to improve communities and it is a legacy way of paying up front to replicate sustainable growth.”
“We applaud the individuals that were recognised today at the Bodibe Schools Ceremony, as education and sustainability are core values at Lafarge. Keep up the good work, and we urge more individuals to get involved and work towards empowering communities,” says Mpogeng Nkgadima, Lafarge Education and Community Trusts Programme Manager.
