Career Expo
Career Expo
As part of Lafarge’s Project Dipeo, the company hosted a career expo in Lichtenburg, North West Province, to empower high school learners with knowledge about further education and the career paths available to them. This kind of grass roots initiative is how Lafarge creates widespread change within local communities.
The expo took place on 12 October 2018, and was the result of a partnership with the South African Council for Graduates Cooperative (SACGC). Supported by the Department of Basic Education (Lichtenburg sub-district), the expo proved to be a great success, with approximately 2000 learners attending from local high schools, grades 9, 10 and 11, in the greater Ditsobotla district.
Learners received information and guidance from tertiary education institutions, corporate companies, and public sector organisations, amongst others. Lafarge’s career expo creates a positive impact on our learners’ futures, guiding them towards participation in the local economy and sustainable socio-economic development.
Exhibitors at the 2018 Lafarge career expo included: SACGC, Fibre Processing and Manufacturing SETA, Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA), North West University, Taletso FET College, Department of Mineral Resources (DMR), Ditsobotla Local Municipality, Department of Basic Education (Province), Office of the Premier (Province), Department of Basic Education (Lichtenburg District), Tacet, UDL, Afrisam, and PPC.
