Building solutions for life

It seems only a short while ago that I was introducing you to the first edition of the Lafarge Newsletter, and subsequently what a busy, event -filled quarter it has been.

Despite the continuing lull in the industry, Lafarge has seen increased activity with new projects coming to fruition.

Lafarge Gypsum first to produce 15mm Plasterboard in South Africa

Lafarge Gypsum South Africa is the first plasterboard manufacturer locally to produce a 15mm plasterboard.

The thicker plasterboard benefits customers by offering:

  • Better acoustics properties;
  • More resistance to impact than a 12mm standard plasterboard;
  • Better insulation properties.

Lafarge commitment to sustainability extended to transportation

The Lafarge Group entered the global Dow Jones Sustainability Index in 2010 in recognition of its sustainable development actions.

The organization had a target of 20% reduction of CO2 per ton between 1990 and 2010 and surpassed this target by achieving a 21.7% reduction.

Lafarge Plasterboard brings home ‘ecospecifier’ listing

Lafarge Gypsum South Africa is proud to announce the official listing of Lafarge Plasterboard on ecospecifier South Africa. The range of 6.4mm, 12mm and 15mm Lafarge Plasterboards have been labeled ‘green', in addition to Lafarge's technical fire-check and moisture-check boards.

This development is of great importance to the building fraternity who are under pressure to specify ‘green' plasterboards for their building projects under the new SANS 204 energy efficiency standard.

CUT OFF TIME FOR NEXT DAY DELIVERY

Dear Valued Customer,

In order to improve the delivery service to our customers, Lafarge Gypsum will be implementing a cut off time for order placement for next day deliveries from 1st November 2011.

Orders that require delivery within 24 hrs need to reach the order department (Branch) by no later than 15h00. Orders received after the 15h00 cut off time will be dispatched within 24hrs of the following day.

This will be implemented at both manufacturing plants - Alrode and Roodekop respectively. Note that the Branches nationally will still continue to implement their distribution schedules and time slots.

We thank you for your understanding as we implement this, please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions regarding this change.

Yours Sincerely
